Creative Computing
Understanding and Measuring the Science of Human and Computational Creativity
The Creative Computing Lab (CCL) investigates how creativity manifests itself in software products and processes, developing assessment models and instruments grounded in Psychometrics, Cognitive Psychology, and Computer Science.
The CCL is a research laboratory dedicated to the study of creativity in the context of Computing, with a focus on understanding, modeling, and evaluating Software Product Creativity (SPC). Creativity is a fundamental aspect of the development of computational solutions; however, its assessment still presents scientific challenges, often relying on subjective judgments and manual analyses. The CCL seeks to investigate how creative characteristics emerge in software artifacts and development processes, establishing methods and evidence for their evaluation.
The laboratory’s research integrates Artificial Intelligence, Psychometrics, Cognitive Psychology, and Cognition, exploring the definition of constructs, the development of measurement instruments, and the analysis of characteristics such as originality, flexibility, and creative fluency. Through quantitative and qualitative approaches, the CCL contributes to the scientific understanding of creativity in Computing, educates researchers, and expands knowledge about the relationship between creativity, cognition, and software development.
